Once again she caught him watching the monitors that allowed them to watch the humans who were unaware of the vampires living in the basement. She wished he'd look at her like he did that human girl Sherry.

"Spying again?"

Merril turned around to find Essie walking towards her.

"Give it up already."

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Hey I might be blonde but I'm not stupid."

Drew didn't notice anything else when he was watching Sherry. It was like the world faded away except for her. She was so close yet so far away.
