A lesson is learned that you shouldn't read your comatose daughter fairy tales since she'll just go mad and start killing people. That was pretty evil of the stepmother to poison her with bleach when she was like seven or so which is how her spirit appeared to people that were attacked in various ways with a fairytale theme. Sam of course was familiar with fairy tales while Dean wasn't. Well that's not really a shocker since Dean doesn't really strike me as a reader not that he's stupid just not bookwormy.
So once again the boys are thought to be insane because a father just isn't going to believe some strange guy about his daughter but he does end up seeing her so he finally lets her go. Let this be a warning if your child ingests bleach and ends up in a coma don't let them linger for years while you read fairy tales since they just might go on a killing spree. The little girl did look like Snow White though.
