An Angel of the Lord. His true form can be overwhelming to humans along with his true voice. Certain people. Special people can perceive his true visage. He's able to possess some poor bastard like Holy Tax Accountant. Claims God commanded him to save Dean because they have work for him.

I'll admit that he's hot but I'm not so sure about this guy. Dean should be weary of him. He didn't even seem to care that he burned out poor Pamela's eyes out and I liked her. Come on ya gotta love a girl that says, "Mmm, mmm, mmm after meeting the Winchesters and she's strong to since she lifted up Bobby. I wonder nah I don't want to go there. Anyone could say that God sent him. How do we even know he did? Okay he has that burn mark but that doesn't seem very angelic to me. Come on dude couldn't you tone it down instead of causing all that glass to attack the boy newly risen from Hell. You really need to work on your people skills dude. Not that Dean isn't special because he totally is after all he has the perky nipples to prove it but I'm thinking that Sam would be the one that might be able to see him in his true visage. Also I'm not too thrilled with a guy that causes poor Dean pain.

Also I have to wonder what he was doing at that diner since that looked like his handiwork. Did the demons find out something that he didn't want other people finding out since right now I only know that he has lots of power but that doesn't make him the good guy. Pam certainly didn't look like she was just touched by an angel since she enjoyed touching Dean more. Just because he's an angel doesn't mean he's good after all look at Michael who was a total dick if you ask me wanting to send Xena to Hell. Also Raphael was an asshole too hitting on Ella and nearly getting Leon killed.  Mephistopholes who was supposed to be the bad guy helped save Leon so the lines are blurred and of course I can't forget Azazeal who killed poor Thelma just so he could continue to look pretty and lurk and be all creepy doing his spying thing.

Angels: They smite first and ask questions later. Demons are scared of angels not just scared scared but holy hell scared.

A mark that appears to be a brand on the ghost's hand. Witness to the unnatural. None of these ghosts died an ordinary death. These ghosts were forced to rise. Woke up in agony. They're like rabid dogs. It aint' their fault. Someone rose them on purpose. It requires a spell so powerful it leaves a mark, a brand on their souls. It's called The Rising Of The Witnesses and it figures into an ancient prophecy out of Revelations. It's a sign of the Apocalypse.

The spell to send the Witnesses back has to be cast over an open fire. A hex box is needed along with Hemlock, Opium, and Wormwood. Toss the contents into the fire after saying the spell.

This is one of the 66 seals. The seals are being broken by Lilith. She did the spell and rose the Witnesses. As a result of that 21 hunters died and sixth of Castiel's brothers. Think of the seals as locks on a door. When the last one breaks Lucifer walks free. It turns out that he isn't a myth after all.
