I was really excited to find out about this series since I happen to enjoy the books. Now I'm no stranger to shows being books first since that's happening a lot lately so I expected things to be different. Yes they are different but I'm enjoying the show so I'm not putting out the big thumbs down because there are lots of changes. Now I didn't get a PHD in Sword Of Truth but wasn't the boundary already down when Kahlan was running for her life? Her sister wasn't with her since wasn't she coming home or something and found her by the side of the road? I'm not going to go all insane and nitpick all the changes since I did enjoy the show. It is great to have a sword fighting show back on and best of all with Sam and Rob at the helm so to speak.

Personally I could have done without naked Zedd and his chicken. I'm just glad for the chicken because that was just too much of Zedd if you ask me. I think I blocked that out which is something you can do when you're reading. Do I really need to see an old naked guy? Couldn't you have another naked guy? Hell naked Richard would be better. Is it just me or am I the only one wondering about the hair. First of all Darken Rahl I thought he would have longer hair. I would have loved to have seen Kevin Smith in this role but sadly he's dead. I think Craig will do a good job since I've seen him evil before. Since this is a show in New Zealand I'll expect to find familiar faces pop up like Richard's Dad. 

So Kahlan goes off to find Zedd with her little friend Sharl who is a glowing thing that if you didn't know looks like a necklace. Apparently she was able to make a opening in the boundary so Kahlan was able to run through. Too bad she couldn't close it up so the bad guys couldn't follow her. Richard who had just finished making a bridge and helping the scared cow across which had to be the strangest looking cow I've ever seen helps after all wouldn't you help a girl who had a bunch of men after her? She is pretty cranky because she isn't used to being touched so she doesn't even want to give him credit for helping her out. She does her thing on the guy and he fights the other men. That is handy but it does make her weak.

She goes off not wanting anything to do with Richard. She finally makes it to Zedd and while that's going on Richard goes home to see Dad. Some plant bit him which isn't good. See that's a good reason to stay out of the woods or maybe if you have to be in the woods you should wear gloves or watch out for those biting plants. There really should be warning signs. Dad convinces Richard to go to Zedd's where he makes it just barely since he ends up falling off his horse. Kahlan isn't thrilled to find out that Richard is the Seeker. he has no clue what's going on with that attacking plant and all not to mention Zedd not saying a word to him.

Richard gets healed and decides to leave since he thinks the whole thing is crazy. Oh what a nice brother he has since Michael ends up teaming up with the bad guys. It turns out that he knew all along that Richard was his adoptive brother. So what dude does that really make him less your brother? I guess it does to him since he must believe that blood is thicker than water while I think that is totally ridiculous since George is Richard's father in every way that matters. Oh Chase you should have your men trained better than to just take off because bad guy says so. That gives him the chance to kill George.

The bad guys are after a book called The Book Of Counted Shadows. Yes this would be another change because in the series Richard memorized the book and it was destroyed when he was able to recite it by heart. It would be bad for it to make its way into the clutches of Darken Rahl since it contains ultimate power which is never good when you're dealing with someone evil. Richard of course isn't happy to find his dead father and wants to go after the one that murdered his father. Oh Michael you moron seemed to wonder if Richard killed their father. Sure take the word of a stranger over your own family. They call Kahlan a witch so I guess the w word makes some people go insane.

Whoops Richard takes a horse which means he has the book and the sword. Whoops again when the big fight doesn't go as planned because Richard ends up on his back lucky to be alive while the guy takes off with the book. So of course they need to get the book and on the other side Darken's men are trying to break down the boundary. Oh imagine that sending those flaming whatevers smacking into the boundary will eventually do the trick. So that finally gets broken but Richard does get the book and destroys it. Hey better to not have anyone get it instead of the bad guy getting it. Apparently the sword doesn't affect Richard the way it does in the book. All in all it was a good start to a new show that I'm sure I'll really enjoy.
